Our Story

Our story

EVERYONE PRETTY MUCH KNOWS HOW WE MET – ON A BUS.

And because the whole thing sounds like a story no screenwriter could have come up with, here it is one more time.

On February 12th, 2015, Nati flew to Rio de Janeiro for Carnival to visit her Brazilian friends, whom she had met during her language stay in Vancouver back in 2011. Naturally, she was traveling like a true local — meaning by bus, not taxi.
(With a Louis Vuitton bag and a Rimowa suitcase, of course… )

A colleague of hers had to get off a few stops earlier, which opened up the seat next to Nati. At the next stop — Santos Dumont, Rio’s domestic airport — Guih got on. And as fate would have it, there was exactly one seat left. The one right next to her. So he had no choice but to sit down: Nati with her feet up, her suitcase jammed under her legs, and off they went through Rio — headed towards Copacabana.

Guih’s first thought?
“Wow… she looks completely lost. What is she doing here?”
(And honestly… he wasn’t entirely wrong)

But it didn’t take long for him to notice that the person next to him was clearly a foreigner and he almost felt bad for her. He figured she might get robbed any minute. When they started chatting and Nati mentioned she was from Switzerland, the conversation somehow led to Roger Federer. At that point, Nati had no idea how much Brazil loves Federer and trust us, they really do.

And that’s how Roger became the opening chapter and the start of everything. In the days that followed, they spent two unforgettable weeks together complete with all the chaos that Rio likes to throw in: a robbery, a missing Swiss friend, wild block parties, and plenty of unforgettable moments.
